What technology is used in Norwegian Subsea products?

Norwegian Subsea products are engineered around state-of-the-art Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) sensor technology. This forms the core of our Motion Reference Units (MRUs) and motion sensors.

We combine these high-quality MEMS sensors with advanced, proprietary sensor fusion algorithms. This sophisticated processing allows us to deliver highly accurate and reliable 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) motion data, including Roll, Pitch, Yaw, Heave, Surge, and Sway, even in challenging dynamic marine environments.

Our technology focus extends to robust hardware design, utilizing materials like anodized aluminum and titanium for durability in various operating conditions, from indoor installations to deep subsea deployments (up to 6000m) and hazardous areas. Practicality is ensured through features like compact designs, flexible mounting options, and standard interfaces like Ethernet (including Passive PoE on some models), RS-232/485, and industry-standard connectors (e.g., RJ45, Subconn).

Integration is streamlined through support for a wide range of communication protocols (e.g., UDP, Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet/IP, NMEA) and our user-friendly, browser-based configuration software, eliminating the need for software installation. This combination of advanced MEMS technology, sophisticated algorithms, robust hardware, and ease of use defines the technological foundation of Norwegian Subsea's high-performance, cost-effective motion sensing solutions.
