Is the MRU also available in a VRU / Inclinometer version?
All our MRUs are also available in a VRU (Vertical Reference Unit) / Inclinometer /Roll & Pitch version of the MRU. This version is identical to the MRU except that it does not include Heave, Surge and Sway outputs.
This means the our VRU / Inclinometer has all the advantages of the Norwegian Subsea MRU. It will be accurate in real sea conditions, in irregular and coupled motions. This is due to the use of the accurate gyroscopes and accelerometers and the advanced sensor fusion algorithms. This ensures superior performance compared to other VRUs or Inclinometers or Roll/Pitch sensors.
If you do not require Heave, Surge and Sway measurements, ask for the Inclinometer version.

Passive PoE powers the MRU Compact via standard Ethernet cable without negotiation. It’s not compatible with most PoE switches (which use Active PoE), so a splitter or converter is typically required.

Dynamic Positioning
Dynamic positioning (DP) of vessels necessitates roll and pitch compensation of the GNSS antenna to ensure accurate positioning of the ship's control point.

ROV/AUV
Reliable motion sensors are vital components in the navigation system and motion compensation of payload sensors for ROVs and AUVs.

Stabilising Fins
Stabilising fin and roll damping systems rely on motion sensors to accurately measure the roll motions of a ship.
