Next week, the maritime world gathers in Rotterdam for Europort 2025, one of the largest international meeting points for shipbuilders, technology providers and operators. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, the exhibition is an important platform for discussing how the industry can meet future demands through smarter, greener solutions.
Norwegian Subsea will be exhibiting at Europort on stand 4030, and we’ll be showcasing our MRU Marine range, which is perfectly-suited for acquiring motion data on ships of any size or type. While MRUs are widely recognised for their role in applications such as bathymetric surveying, helideck monitoring or wave radars, they are now increasingly being adopted by ship operators and marine technology developers to support vessel performance optimisation.
As shipping becomes more data-driven, the accurate measurement of vessel motion in all sea states and weather conditions is emerging as a vital input to next-generation performance systems. Integrating motion data alongside fuel, weather and routing information enables improved decision support, helping ships operate more efficiently, reduce fuel consumption and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
For marine technology makers, MRUs open the door to new solutions that add value to their systems, while for ship operators, the ability to integrate proven motion sensing into vessel optimisation platforms represents a tangible step towards greener, more efficient fleets. Norwegian Subsea is already engaged in development projects exploring this shift, demonstrating how small, calibration-free sensors can play a big role in the industry’s digital and environmental transition.
If you are visiting Europort and would like to discuss your MRU requirements or explore collaboration opportunities, please reach out to arrange a meeting with the Norwegian Subsea team.
